Life Updates #1: Prismatic Sites, Master Degree, etc

Hey there! I haven’t got any nice pictures to illustrate my posts, so I’ll simply stick to the usual hoard of 2000s graphics. I won’t lie, those Cyworld/Sayclub/Candybar graphics hold a special place in my heart, and only seeing them can change my day for the better. It’s not only about nostalgia, it’s more about the joy of being able to customise something on the web. Social media has made us forget how awesome it can be.

What I’m working on at the moment

I know I haven’t been using this blog much, but I am updating my main website and my pixel domain, which is ALMOST ready! It’s not perfect, but I’m quite proud of myself for the result. I used to see those small compact websites everywhere in the mid-2000s, and I even had one of my own, but I forgot the URL lol. It’s nowhere near those doll websites with intricate details, but I’ll update it from time to time.

I’m also proud to say that I GOT THE SCHOLARSHIP!!!!! Still have a huge amount to pay because non-EU prices are insane. x_x Now I’ll have to work hard to earn pristine grades and possibly secure a PhD scholarship in the future. At this point, I’ve already accepted my fate, I’ll never leave the classroom. I have such an intense love-hate relationship with teaching that I could write a whole essay about it.

Hobbies

Years ago, I used to have pen pals, but life got in the way and I abandoned this habit. Now I am happy to say that I am back! Unfortunately, postal services are a true obstacle, since I’ve been waiting for a letter for more than a month and still no signs of it.

Since I’ve been travelling more, I also started a junk journal to collect boarding tickets and related stuff. I got an expanded plain Moleskine, yeah, God forbid a girl treat herself to an overpriced notebook. Sorry, I can’t show the inside pages or I’d doxx myself (lol). I forgot the name of the artist who drew this Nana sticker, but I bought it at a geek convention in Dublin.

Speaking of cute geek stuff, I got these pins and the Languo pens at the Herbert Park Sunday Market. It’s a beautiful park, especially during Spring, when all the cherry blossoms are blooming and the landscape is a perfect mix of pink and green.

I haven’t been consuming a lot of media lately, since I have been spending endless nights working on my websites and still there’s plenty of work to do. Hopefully one day I’ll change that haha.

See you later!

New Layout!

Hey everyone! This is just a post to announce that the main website, Prismatic Pink, is finally out! As I expressed before, I have been wanting to experiment more with HTML and CSS, so a hand-coded website better suits my needs.

Other than that, my next project will be a pixel art subdomain. As a child, I always dreamed of creating those tiny pixel websites with compact menus and small text areas. I guess it’s never too late to make those small dreams come true, right? lol

I know my post about indie web has received positive feedback, and I would like to thank everyone who took the time to read it and share their thoughts. I won’t lie that I was injected with optimism (and honestly, that’s great! Those who know me irl have never seen me being optimistic about anything lol) the moment I wrote it. After spending months browsing around some sites, I understood that the problems with social media are still here, maybe a bit sugarcoated under pages of manifestos and blinding GIFs. Sure, there are no algorithms curating our experience on the indie web, but it does not mean there are no active echo chambers when webmasters themselves organically build them. But hey, at least we aren’t doing these things under Musk’s or Zuckerberg’s platforms, and our whole drama is ✨fully customisable with HTML and CSS✨.

Thank you for reading. See you later!
