Why another blog in 2024?

Hi, folks. It’s me again in 2024, twenty years after creating my first blog. For me, there is something really magical in creating your own space on the internet, and I missed that.

I’ve been here and there, trying out all blogging platforms. Most of them do not even exist anymore, so lots of content were completely lost but I won’t complain, they were really cringey. After years of research and trial and error, I finally chose WordPress as my preferred platform. I spent quite a long time with the free version, WordPress.com, but I knew only WordPress.org would satisfy my needs.

It’s funny how some things haven’t changed. My first blog was also pink. I’m so glad I’m over the teenage years of internalised misogyny when I tried to pretend I didn’t like pink and now I can be proud of who I truly am. Duds posted about being in your 30s and enjoying things you liked when you were 13 but without the shame. I’m not 30 yet (only two years left, though!), but I relate to that in so many ways! They were also my inspiration to finally claim back a personal space of my own since the internet is so chaotic and hostile these days.

My husband and I are rewatching Cardcaptor Sakura, an anime I was completely obsessed with when I was 10. Our house is entirely decorated with my Sanrio and his Pokémon plushies. I wish I could see my younger self reacting to my life now. She would definitely feel good about what we have accomplished.

  1. I love your website :3 Keep it up! Your blog is so cute!
Also, I just recently learned about Cardcaptor Sakura and now I think I should watch it, since you mentioned it here ^_^

  2. Having your own space on the internet is awesome and well worth the effort of maintaining your own website! 😀

I once started watching Cardcaptor Sakura when they started airing it on TV in my country, but then they stopped airing it again for whatever reason… they did the same with Sailor Moon. >_< I wanted to watch so many anime back in the day, but nowadays I'm having a hard time finding the time to do so. Cardcaptor Sakura is high on my list of anime I want to start watching (again) some day, though!

PS. Your computer setup looks awesome!

    1. Hi, Mari! I’m glad you liked the setup. Thank you so much for linking my website, I’ve just linked you back! 🙂

Watching anime on TV was quite a difficult task hehe. They would always cut some episodes, broadcast them in a different order, etc etc. I hope you’ll find some time to watch anime or do things you enjoy ❤

  3. My, I’ve come to terms with myself with this period here: “I’m so glad I’m over the teenage years of internalised misogyny when I tried to pretend I didn’t like pink and now I can be proud of who I truly am. Duds posted about being in your 30s and enjoying things you liked when you were 13 but without the shame.”

Back when I was a teenager I really, REALLY loved pink. But it was too OOC for the Nightwish persona that I had back then. My bedroom was pitch-black, as was my hair and literally all my clothes and shoes. Now I’m 36 and my friend who’s known me since I was 14 says I’ve changed 180º. And she’s right. My bedroom is now Barbie-pink, with the furniture white and pastel-mint green, and I’m THE most colorful and elegant diva that I know (no modesty here, sorry, I’m so frigging stylish and amazing). The only thing I didn’t overcome yet was my scorn towards make up. But the scorn changed target, I guess: before, I thought women who wore make up were ridiculous and superficial, but now I understand this scorn is just because I was a teenager and a young adult during the late 90’s and the early 2000’s. I mean, make up back them was horrible, I still think it is, ESPECIALLY the lined lips (which are making a come back that nobody wanted), so make up is still something I’m not very enthusiastic about… But I guess I’m more open-minded now. Maybe one day I’ll even wear make up to work. This will surprise the hell out of the students!
